According to Dr Rokas Bagdonas, once the lower eyelid-related problems would be solved by performing classic under-eye area surgery. However, it has certain adverse consequences: it always leaves scars and, occasionally, may lead to additional problems, such as an outward rolling (sagging) of the lower eyelid, a rounded shape of the eye, loss of the lower eyelid tone. Though this kind of surgery is still carried out (where other measures are not sufficient), nowadays the range of the lower eyelid correction techniques or the so-called ‘eye bag removal surgery’ methods, is much wider.
‘Nowadays, fat herniation can be removed using the transconjunctival approach, i.e., without visible scars. It should be mentioned that there is no such thing as a single correct method that could be applied in all cases when making adjustments to this complex and subtle area, and therefore a systemic approach is required when striving to achieve the perfect result, as each case is individual. The new techniques introduced in the practices of plastic surgery have made the path to success so much easier,’ says Dr Dainius Daunoravičius.
